4 Things That I Can’t Teach Without!

Teaching during a pandemic is a little different than most school years. Here are 4 things that I can’t teach without this school year!

My mask lanyard

As a staff, we decided to try these mask lanyards out. They are great! I just clip my mask to it and when it’s an appropriate time to take my mask off it will hang down. Sometimes I slip it inside my shirt (I almost always have a tank top on under my shirt so it goes in between the two).

My face bracket

Of course I bought a face bracket when every teacher was sharing them on social media. I find that it makes mask wearing a little hotter but I really like that the fabric doesn’t touch my lips or suck into my mouth when I talk. I ordered mine from Amazon and they arrived quickly!

My apron

I have always wanted a teaching apron and thanks to my classroom neighbour, I have one! It has a place for my keys, sanitized pens and pencils, a small bottle of sanitizer, sticky notes, binder clips, my cell phone and whatever else I think I might need. Since my desks are spaced out, it is more difficult to quickly move around the classroom. Now I have everything with me on the go. It’s perfect! And notice the fabric… she made it Paris themed since she knows how much I love Paris!

Immune boosting supports

I don’t know about you, but I get sick with a cold every single school year. It never fails! It’s a little more concerning this year since it could require extended days off. Along with healthy eating, physical activity, adequate sleep and lots of hand washing, I have added in some immune boosting supports. I have been trying some local supplements that I take daily and I have a Saje Immune roller that I have been using each day. I have never used either of these products but I am hopeful that they will help me out this year!

Hi, I'm Shanna!

I’m a fifth and sixth grade combined class teacher at a rural elementary school. Math is my favourite subject to teach! I work hard to make sure that I teach more than the curriculum to my students. I focus on building a sense of classroom community and providing engaging activities for students. I bet I can help you with those things, too!
